Does Water Give You Clarity Of Thought

Sunday, September 4th, 2011

Is it at all possible that good old fashioned water can clear one thoughts of all clutter?

Does Water Give You Clarity Of Thought

I mean, you’ve got a head full of stuff and ‘cannot see the wood for the trees’ scenario yet add some water to the mix and viola, everything becomes clear. Is this possible?

Take for example, you’re standing in the shower with the warm water flowing over your head and down your face, your eyes are firmly shut and all you hear is the sound of running water – at that moment, do you have billions of thoughts rushing through your mind or just a singular overiding thought?

Are Baby’s First Words Mama or Dada

Are Baby's First Words Mama Or Dada
Are Baby’s First Words Mama Or Dada?

Will Your Baby’s First Words Be MaMa or DaDa?

Well there is overwhelming traditional statistical evidence which would suggest that MaMa takes out the win (and not just because ‘Animal’ has MaMa at 2x that of DaDa).

However new research has brought the question to the fore once again and the results make compelling reading… it all depends on the siblings (or lack thereof)…!

Realising One’s Own Mortality Is Hard On Others

Realising One's Own Mortality
There comes a time in everybody’s life when you suddenly realise that one day – you will die.

You have this concious thought that you will not live forever and that the clock is counting down the days until you will ‘cease to be’. You are but a mere mortal and one day, everything will come to an end.

You have realised your own mortality!

Depending on the person, this is a tough realisation and it takes a bit of time to work through and accept. For some it is but a fleeting moment, for others it can take years to process and compartmentalise and digest and accept (or not as the case may be).

But what about those around you? Have you ever given any thought as to how your ‘new realisation’ might be affecting them?

Another Fine Eatery Goes South

Tuesday, May 17th, 2011

It was only ever going to be just a matter of time before another great eatery falls from grace… Today, it was the turn of

Anna's Garden Terrace Café

Annas Garden Terrace Café, Gold Coast.

In that all consuming quest for the mighty dollar, Anna’s decided to take a very successful recipe (excuse the pun) and try to improve on it… but unfortunately the end result has been a total flop (no excuse for the pun this time).

Baby Jet Lag

Baby Jet LagJet Lag and Babies, have you tried it?

Every thought about doing a long haul flight with an infant or young baby… if so, read on!

So what is Jet Lag? Without getting too involved, it’s medically referred to as desynchronosis and is a physiological condition which results from alterations to the body’s circadian rhythms. Jet lag results from rapid long-distance transmeridian (east–west or west–east) travel, as on a jet plane. Read the excellent article on this subject at sleepdisordersguide.com

But how does that affect me and my baby?

Do Grandparents Have Rights?

Friday, March 11th, 2011

It’s a simple question…Do our Parents have Rights over our Children?

… and there’s a simple answer!

Grandparents Rights

Now, I’m not about to set out a legal argument to support my position because as I’m sure you’ll know, any legal buff worth his salt could take either side and put forward an argument and win. No, I’m just going to say it like it is.

Emotional Capacity

The Differing Emotional Capacity of People

All men are made equal“… or at least that is what Thomas Jefferson and the American  Declaration of Independence would have us believe! I think otherwise… and this is why.

Differing Emotional Capacities

Differing Emotional Capacities

If we were all equal, then there would be no difference in one persons emotional capacity, over another.  And we both know that you do not have to look further than your own home to see differing emotional capacities in action. Let me explain.

Prior to the birth of my first child, my wife and I discussed the impending ‘new order’ and in particular how we would cope with a third person in our emotional circle. Up until then, I had singularly enjoyed my wife’s entire emotional capacity but now I expressed my reservations at having to accept ‘half rations’ or half her emotional capacity, with my impending daughter receiving the other half.

After the birth of our daughter, non of the above transpired and the reality was quite different!

When It Rains - It Pours

When It Rains - It Pours

When It Rains – It Pours

…some days you just wake up and it all goes to pot

So the baby decides to up chuck the moment you put her down for her nights sleep and you have to suddenly change the bedding.

You then try to put her down but she decides a nappy change is required, even though you changed it only 20 minutes prior.

3rd attempt at getting her to sleep is met with wide awake eyes and a desire for play time – after all the stimulation of the past half hour, would you expect anything less?

Finally worn out and ready for bed but alas, she is now over tired and restless and won’t settle. Never fear its almost feeding time again so lets do it all over again…
