Relationships and The Natural Angle of Repose of Beach Sand

Monday, July 22nd, 2013

The English language is wonderful and never more so than when used to describe things. Recently, I was presented with what by all accounts appeared to be a dilemma and was asked for my advice and after due consideration found that the dilemma itself contained the very answer the person sought.

In essence whatever course of action you choose, the laws of nature (or life) will dictate and win out so don’t do anything you’re not prepared to back up with 24/7 support.

Lets bring in the beach sand and I’ll explain.

Satellite Tracking For Your Pets

Saturday, March 10th, 2012

24 Hours ago our family pet, a Seal Pointed Birman cat went missing. Besides all the frantic activities being done to try and find him, there is also a fair share of finger pointing and incrimination but I’m thinking… “What can we do to prevent this happening again?“.

Satellite Tracking for Pets

The answer that springs to mind is…

Fit A Satellite Tracking Device
To The Cat

Now I don’t mean something akin to what you see on TV on those wildlife documentaries from Sir David Attenborough or his peers. It would look a bit silly with one of those huge radio collars fitted around the neck of such a small pet, and besides that technology is a bit rustic to say the least.

No, I’m going for something we already have. A technology that is in everybody’s hands, literally.

Does Water Give You Clarity Of Thought

Sunday, September 4th, 2011

Is it at all possible that good old fashioned water can clear one thoughts of all clutter?

Does Water Give You Clarity Of Thought

I mean, you’ve got a head full of stuff and ‘cannot see the wood for the trees’ scenario yet add some water to the mix and viola, everything becomes clear. Is this possible?

Take for example, you’re standing in the shower with the warm water flowing over your head and down your face, your eyes are firmly shut and all you hear is the sound of running water – at that moment, do you have billions of thoughts rushing through your mind or just a singular overiding thought?

Gas Fracking Will Save The Environment

Saturday, August 20th, 2011

Let me start off by saying that if the world really wants to ‘Save The Environment‘, then the world needs to remove it’s dependency on the environment because it’s that very same dependency that is fuelling the destruction.

Gas Fracking Will Save The Environment

Now we all know that ‘the world’ is not about to cut back let alone remove it’s environmental dependency no matter how hard or loud any lobby may bleat, so where does that leave us – I’ll tell you where that leaves us… it leaves us with Gas Fracking!

You and everyone else on this planet needs ‘energy’, some may need only a few sticks of wood for a fire yet others may require megawatts of electricity or billions of barrels of oil… and no matter how you cut it, slice it or parcel it up, producing that energy all leads to the destruction of the environment in one way or another!

an Umbrella or a Tree ?

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

…so what’s better, an umbrella or a tree..?

They both give you shade and that’s about where the similarities end. But it is exactly that similarity that I wish to resolve, is the shade from a tree better than the shade from an umbrella?umbrella_or_a_tree

Ants, Ants, Ants…

Monday, December 1st, 2008

We’ve all got them but do we want them..?

Yes there are those amongst us who would go to great lengths I’m sure, to protect the ants but I’m not one of them [and I suspect neither are the vast majority of us].

...ants..ants..ants

Ants, ants, ants ...

So try as I may, I seem unable to get rid of them and its not just ONE hive of ants I’m dealing with here but FOUR… and its not just ONE species of ant but again FOUR different types of ant..!

Stone The Crows!

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

The Dictionaries list this as an Interjection,

stone the crows, (UK, Australia, informal) Generalised expression of surprise or amazement, or just for emphasis.

stone the crows

The exact origins of stone the crows is not so clear. It seems there were a number of similar fragmentary sentences around Australia in the early decades of the twentieth century, all fuelled by the Australians love of playing with language. Reference is made to stone the crows in [Rose of Spadgers by C.J.Denis, 1924] and in the BBC radio comedy [Hancock’s Half Hour, 1950’s].

Taking it a step further and looking at possible meanings for the word crow,
