Love them or hate them, there is no denying that the once humble leaf blower has now taken root in the Australian male psychic and is every bit as important to him as is his phallus.
The definition of a phallic symbol is “any object, such as a cigar or skyscraper, that may broadly resemble or represent the penis, especially an object that symbolizes power, like an automobile”.
Cue our leaf blower…
It’s obviously got the physical proportions of a phallic symbol and the way it is used by the quintessential Aussie male would certainly suggest he thinks so! – It is lauded about at the most inappropriate times, used in a way it was never designed to be used and seems to ’empower’ all who have one!
It’s the sad truth but Australian men seem to need to make up for their lack of masculinity by purchasing a ‘stand in’ in the form of a leaf blower. Otherwise why would they:
- use it every day at 7:20am come hail, rain or sunshine..?
- use it when there are no leaves in sight, nor grass, nor sand… nothing except concrete…?
- use it in the city on the balcony of a third floor apartment…?
Because it gives them a sense of power and plays to their virility, that’s why!
