lorem ipsum

lorem ipsum is a mangled fragment from Cicero’s De Finibus Bonorum et Malorum (“On the Ends of Goods and Evils”, 45 BC). An approximate literal translation of lorem ipsum might be “sorrow itself”, as the term is from dolorum ipsum quia, meaning “sorrow because of itself”, or less literally, “pain for its own sake”.

…and you may rightly be thinking, “what is the relevance of this as my blog title?”. Well let me explain.

This is my blog, I get to say what I want, when I want and can carry on for as long as I want. Its all about me, myself, I. Of course I expect to get the usual amount of abuse and ridicule (lorem ipsum?) but for the main part, I don’t really care.

Everybody needs to vent once in a while but society can be a little restrictive. It doesn’t go down to well screaming and shouting in the supermarket and the days of being allowed to take your soapbox and stand outside parliment voicing your singular opinions, are numbered. So what does one do, get a blog? So this is my soapbox and I have a few issues I want to voice!

Besides, they’ve pretty much outlawed talking about sex, religion and politics in every pub nowadays which is fair comment considering a bit of alcohol with either of those three leads to nothing but sorrow and pain(lorem ipsum?).

So I’m going to take this opportunity to appease my wife, family and friends and redirect my opinions elsewhere – to you the wider public. You can expect articles on politics and the alternatives, opinions on society and it’s failings, a technophiles outlook on a technophobes world and anything else that takes my fancy.

Enjoy.
