…or at least that is how the saying goes. However, I have a different take on that…
The Early Bird Pisses Off The Neighbours!
How early is early? Is 7am to be considered early, is before sunrise early or is 4:45am early? Needless to say ‘early’ is a relative term but no matter your reference point, 4:45am IS EARLY!
The neighboring school feels it necessary to allow its ground staff and maintenance workers to start work at 4:45am during weekdays. This gives them a full 4 hours to ‘set out the rubbish bins and run the leaf blower over the playground before the school children arrive‘…. an argument I just don’t understand. But when you realise that the staff are working to flexi-time rules, meaning they can knock off at 1:30pm and GO SURFING…, it all becomes very clear.
Their mantra of ‘Stuff the neighbours, so what if we wake then at 4:45am or 5:00am every week day, so what if we disturb their sleep patterns, so what if they complain to the authorities and the police, we work for the state and are above any regional law or lawmakers, we are autonomous, you can do nothing‘… is tiring.
This has got to be one for 4 Corners, A Current Affair or Today Tonight – I’m at my wits end…
